LANDSCAPE AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

The unit is active in the various fields of environmental engineering and operates with the full scientific, technological and instrumental support of Nautilus.

It operates in all areas of the environment, incorporating within its work various types of technical expertise (Biology, Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Cartography, Environmental Law, etc).

The principal fields of activity are as follows:

  • Environmental Impact Studies (environmental impact evaluations; evaluations of the state of the environment; incident evaluations) undertaken in accordance with the relevant legislation undertaken using the most appropriate methodology to fulfil the required objectives. Marine engineering applied to the study of coastal erosion, project planning of port infrastructures, coastal barriers and the modelling of wave movement.
  • Marine engineering, applied to the study of coastal erosion, project planning of port infrastructures, coastal barriers and the modelling of wave movement.

  • Hydraulics and hydrology, and their application in the management of the territory and hydraulic risk: calculation of capacity measurements, flow levels, studies of influx and outflows; hydraulic modelling, hydrology projects.

  • Consultancy for the attainment of Environmental Certification (EMAS-ISO 14000) for businesses and associations, in order that they predispose amongst their aims to be achieved an improvement of the impact of their activities upon the environment.
  • The application of Natural Environmental Engineering applied in consolidation work for the reduction of land erosion, utilising the most appropriate natural materials and plants.
  • The unit also produces thematic cartography, with the purpose of providing CAD and GIS products.
